These women are determined to overcome poverty. They have joined forces in a group and are well organised. They have requested help from Eco Bénin to structure their project, a reliable local association. If we can provide them with financial resources, I am convinced that maybe it can help prevent rural exodus and poverty.

Empower 60 women to access means of livelihood and financial self-reliance: the “Michité” (Rise!) group members are fishermen’s wives. Due to the slowdown in fishing activities, the women have decided to regroup in order to develop and diversify their individual income-earning activities. The group includes 60 women, organised in 5 sub-groups corresponding to 5 activities: cassava culture and processing, vegetable farming, breeding of pigs and goats, mat weaving, production of red oil.
At its 23 July 2009 meeting, the Selection Committee of the PPR Corporate Foundation approved a grant of € 2,500 to this project, to fund the creation of income generating activities.
