The Sponsor

Name : Henry Otieno

Note from the sponsor : As Swiss Kenyan, I feel responsible for supporting people suffering from HIV epidemy in my original country. I believe that aid must make people self reliants and not dependants on anyone. That's why the projects I support consists in continuous process which enable people to earn money by themselves or to find a good job: that is to prepare Kenya's future.

Purposes

HIV positive womens' inclusion: a maize meal machine has already been bought to them, it is in place and running: when the locals come to grind their maize, the women generate money that sustains them. This is a continuous process. The second phase which will be launched in October is: starting a tree nursery project. They will sell the trees to the locals to combat deforestation.

Better education for orphans: the project consists in renovating at least 3 class rooms in Logose primary school, installing electricity, buying a van and providing desks and books for most of the kids.

Support and Monitoring

The foundation's support

The Staff Project Committee decided to give € 15,000 to this project, especially to finance desks for the school, technical equipment, raw materials and big water pumps generator for the tree nursery.

Project monitoring

The project sponsor spends several weeks every year in Kenya to follow up the implementation of projects financed by the organisation, from which he is the president. He knows very well beneficiaries and project manager in the field so that he can give feed back about the evolutions of the projects and their impacts on community's life.
