The Solidarity Fair, organised for the fist time in 2008, is a response to the wish of a project in line with the Fnac activities: that would make culture and technologies accessible to all, including to those who need it most.
New products, gathered by Fnac, and second-hand one, collected amongst customers and employees, are sold to the benefit of the Secours Populaire French NGO. People invited by community associations and social services have a priority access to the sale and can acquire CD, DVD, books, technical products...they can't buy in other cases. Generally speaking, all the people find some good opportunities, in particular amongst books for children, gaming or other technical products.
The totality of the benefits, given to the Secours populaire, make the organisation able to develop cultural activities. In 2009, thanks to 21,000 euros, the "Holiday programme" let more than 400 beneficiary leave during the summer.
A very important aspect is the commitment of some thirty volunteer employees (logistics and Dijon store teams, staff members collecting in several sites) alongside the organisation's volunteers, to sort the products and to organise the Solidarity Fair.
Initiated in 2008, the project is managed by the Fnac Store and the Secours Populaire NGO, with the support of the PPR Foundation.
In view of the success of this first Solidarity Fair, the NGO, as well as the store direction and its employees, decided to renew the project.
