Solidarity leaves

The PPR Foundation teams up with Group employees to support NGOs in southern countries, and offers volunteering opportunities during two-week Solidarity Leaves in partnership with three organizations.

A VARIETY OF SOLIDARITY LEAVE MISSIONS IN FAVOUR OF WOMEN

The initial partnership established in 2005 between SolidarCité and Planète Urgence involved literacy and vocational training assignments. In an effort to diversify opportunities for employees to get involved, a second partnership was signed in 2006 with Coup de Pouce, an association offering group missions involving primarily manual work in building construction or renovation. Last but not least, a new partnership was agreed in 2009 with the Association Française des Volontaires du Progrès (AFVP), enabling employees to volunteer to help women cooperatives or NGOs fighting violence against women, via transfers of skills.

Starting in January 2009, Solidarity Leave missions are now exclusively dedicated to projects in favour of women, jointly with the three partner organisations in complementary geographic areas.

The Foundation funds each project up to €2,000, repatriation insurance included.
The volunteer covers the cost of:

  • His/her plane ticket (66% of which is tax-deductible in France)
  • Vaccinations and visa
  • Membership fees in the NGO (Planète Urgence/Coup de Pouce/AFVP)

SOLIDARITY LEAVES: A BOOSTER FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECTS

Solidarity Leaves are often the very first international project in which volunteering employees become involved. Upon their return, many of them wish to pursue their engagement.
Most volunteers stay in touch via internet with the local beneficiaries they met during their leave, and continue to offer support. Whether to organise donations of products in the company for the benefit of a library, sponsor a project for Foundation's support, volunteer in a partner association, or even create a new organisation to develop projects..., Solidarity Leaves often mark the beginning of a deep and durable commitment.
