Staff projects
The PPR Foundation wishes to encourage PPR employees' engagement with local and international NGO, by granting support to selected staff projects.
A Selection Committee has been meeting on a regular basis since 2004 to review projects submitted by non-profit associations in which employees are involved, and grant support to selected projects aligned with the Foundation's sponsoring criteria.
Any Group employee may seek material, human and/or financial support from the Foundation for the benefit of an association in which s/he is a volunteer or member. The employee’s involvement in the project is assessed prior to submittal to the Selection Committee: the employee must be a member of the NGO concerned and agrees to monitor the project on behalf of the Foundation.
The Selection Committee reviews project proposals and decides on the funding granted up to €10 K.
Selection of the projects
- Brief description of project forwarded to the Foundation.
- If project matches priorities: on-line application form to be filled out, followed by discussions with the Foundation Management Team to build a full proposal package.
- Project presentation by the Foundation Team at Selection Committee meetings for review and grant decision.
- The Foundation Management Team then contacts the NGO within two weeks for information on the decision and to establish a partnership agreement if project was selected.
- Project in favour of general interest and non-profit making
- In line with the Foundation’s goals: fight violence against women and promote development aid in favour of women's empowerment
- National or international NGO
- Durability and soundness of the project (no “event hype” project)
- Project term: 1 to 3 years
- Impact in terms of social usefulness, ability to “advance the cause”
- Possibility of ex-post assessment of the results: performance indicators and risk management
- Co-funding mandatory: the Foundation will not provide exclusive funding to any one project: the Foundation’s grant will not exceed 50% of the total budget and will not fund the headquarters’ overhead costs
- No strong religious affiliation
- Funding possible once a year only
- Possible mobilisation of and/or sponsoring by PPR employees
- by-laws of the non-profit organisation,
- copy of publicity in the Official Bulletin, and certificate of registration in the country,
- organisational and operational flowchart of the NGO and Board of Directors, including names,
- annual financial report and audited accounts,
- provisional implementation schedule for the project,
- price quotes for planned purchases or investments,
- detailed budget including income sources, expenses and other fundings, to be attached to Page 4 of the application form (mandatory),
- Bank account details form (RIB in France / IBAN).
KEY FIGURES
- Over 100 staff-sponsored projects supported since 2004
- Nearly 90 employees have sponsored an organisation since 2004
- 3 staff-sponsored projects in favour of women's empowerment supported in the first half-year 2009
IDENTIFYING EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERS AND NEW PARTNERS
While recognizing the value of employees' commitment, the projects sponsored also provide a way to identify new partners prepared to engage in sustainable projects jointly with the company.
As an example, Coup de Pouce was sponsored under an employee project before becoming a full-fledged Solidarity Leave partner of the Foundation.
Likewise, La Ronda, an association sponsored by a Gucci employee, became a partner after teaming with the brand in Florence on a joint project: craft fairs & exhibitions were organised at the Gucci site, and volunteering employees contributed guidance on specific skills.
PLEASE NOTE that the project proposal process for the next Selection Committee (1st half of 2010) is closed from March, 31.
