The Women’s Justice Center’s website was created 8 years ago to simply post some documents. It crept up over the years to become internationally acclaimed (1,800 individual visits every day, 50% of which to the Spanish language of the site): very useful bilingual guides “advocacy tools” need to be complete. The aim of these handbooks is to give women very specific information for each step of the criminal justice process so that she and her friends can effectively monitor, evaluate, and advocate for her case at which ever point she needs help in the criminal justice process.
Activities:
Expansion of the website and Production of bilingual web material: 8 proposed bilingual titles:
1.Completion of key sections of the bilingual Online Handbook; Advocating for Women in the Criminal Justice System in Cases of Rape, Domestic Violence, and Child Abuse
2. A Guide for Mothers, Grandmothers, and Others to Understanding and freeing a loved one caught in prostitution
3. Twelve more Teaching Scenarios
At its 10 March 2009 meeting, the Foundation's Selection Committee decided to grant €5,000 to the Women’s Justice Center to fund the updating of their website in English and Spanish.
