I have sponsored this project benefitting 212 women organised in 4 groups for the past year, because of the groundroots nature of their initiatives. The approach relies on respect for their natural and social environment, while empowering women by developing income generating activities. The sentence below, extracted from the project description demonstrates the importance of respecting all its components to secure its durability:
“It is essential, not to replace agricultural activities with other locally unknown activities, but to ensure that farming practices continue to be a stable source of income, while fostering environmental preservation. The purpose is therefore to find durable and sustainable solutions that are both easy to apply in practice and appropriate for the communities.”

- 2 information and awareness sessions - revitalisation of the 4 women groups - 30 draught teams purchased for use by the women groups - 10 training sessions (2 per quarter, on vegetable cropping, forestry, capacity building to care for the draught teams, marketing of by-products) organised for women group members - Group members will have become knowledgeable about new farming and marketing techniques for the local resources, and will use the relevant equipment appropriately - Knowledge and use of these techniques will contribute durably to preserve the ecosystems and to the promotion of sustainable development Ultimately, the 4 women group will have leveraged the experience and expertise gained during the project execution phase, and will thereafter be able to take over on their own and manage their activities in a self-reliant, durable and sustainable manner.
